In early March, music legend Dolly Parton hinted that Beyoncé might include a cover of "Jolene" in her forthcoming country album, Cowboy Carter. Now that the cat is out of the bag, she has one request.

"Listen to my original 'Jolene' while you wait for Beyoncé's 'Cowboy Carter," the country music icon wrote in a post on X (formerly known as Twitter).

The announcement comes shortly after the "Renaissance" hitmaker released the tracklist for her upcoming album, which will be released on Mar. 29, reports say.

Parton was previously asked about collaborating with Beyoncé, and while she already seemingly confessed the truth, she kept it vague enough to keep fans wondering.

"Well, I think she has! I think she's recorded 'Jolene' and I think it's probably gonna be on her country album, which I'm very excited about that," she told Knox News.

Dolly Parton Gushes About Beyoncé

Beyoncé made quite a splash in the music industry when she revealed her transition from house music to country, and while others protested, Parton was thrilled.

"I love her!" The "I Will Always Love You" hitmaker gushed. "She's a beautiful girl and a great singer.

"We've kind of sent messages back and forth through the years. And she and her mother were like fans, and I was always touched that they were fans, and I always thought she was great."

As per People Magazine, the Queen of Country Music welcomed Queen Bey into the genre after the latter expressed feeling isolated from it.

"I'm a big fan of Beyoncé and very excited that she's done a country album," Parton wrote in an Instagram post. "So congratulations on your Billboard Hot Country number one single."

Dolly Parton's 'Jolene'

Aside from Beyoncé, "Jolene" was covered by several other artists, like the "9 to 5" hitmaker's goddaughter, Miley Cyrus, The White Stripes, Olivia Newton-John, and Lil Nas X.

According to Whiskey Riff, the song is about a bank teller who was flirting with Parton's husband.

"She got this terrible crush on my husband and he just loved going to the bank because she paid him so much attention," she recalled.

"It was kinda like a running joke between us. I was saying, 'Hell, you're spending a lot of time at the bank. I don't believe we've got that kind of money.' So it's really an innocent song all around, but sounds like a dreadful one."
