All good bands (or electronic music producers) must come to an end. As for Röyksopp, we kind of hoped that it would come about a little later than this. The group announced it would be releasing a new album, The Inevitable End, on November 11. The title is more than just that however: It's a formal declaration that the Norwegian duo would no longer be creating music...in album form.

"We feel like this is a goodbye to the traditional album format," read a statement from members Svein Berge and Torbjørn Brundtland. "In our consecutive run of albums, we have been able to say what we want to say and do what we want to do with the LP. We're not going to stop making music, but the album format as such, this is the last thing from us."

Okay, so the band isn't totally calling it quits but it's still a little disappointing to know that we won't be seeing any new full-lengths from the pair. Of course the electronic music scene has largely been all about releasing individual songs versus whole album for the totality of its existence so this won't be that weird.

As for the new stuff, the duo promises that it'll be full of "darker subject matter, with emphasis on the lyrical content." That means that we should expect guest vocalists and naturally, Robyn. The renowned pop performer teamed up with Röyksopp for this year's Do It Again (which Music Times was a huge fan of). The vocalist will reportedly do two tracks on the new album, according to Pitchfork, including a new version of the track "Monument" from the aforementioned album. That song is certainly the darkest on Do It Again.
