Legendary garage rock band The Sonics have announced a new album This Is The Sonics and have shared its ferocious lead single "Bad Betty," which you can check out below. According to Pitchfork, the album is set for release March 31 through Revox Records and will be the band's first new studio album since 1967's Introducing The Sonics.

The Sonics originally formed in 1960 and were known for their primal and unusually raw style of garage rock that would go on to influence the punk movement of the 1970s. The group split in 1969 and initially reunited in 1972, but most recently reunited in 2007. Despite the fact that the members are now in their 70s, however, their new song "Bad Betty" absolutely rips, performed with the fury of musicians more than half their age. According to Stereogum, the song was originally released on a split 7-inch with grunge pioneers Mudhoney for a Record Store Day release last year, but this is a new version that will end up on the album.
