Director Paul Feig finally tipped his hand about the roster of funny leading ladies that have been confirmed to star in his rebooted Ghostbusters. If you're an SNL fan then you'll probably be thrilled to learn that Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones will be joining Kristen Wiig and of course, Melissa McCarthy as the paranormal exterminators.

Once The Hollywood Reporter broke the news about who was rumored to be in contract negotiations Feig decided to let the cat out of the bag himself. Not only did he name the four funny ladies but he also announced that the re-boot's release date is July 22, 2016. As for why the new cast is all women, the director has explained his reasoning, saying,

"A lot of people accused it of being a gimmick. I guess I can see the cynics' view of it, but for me I just love working with funny women People said, 'Why don't you do a mix?' I'm just more interested in the idea of lady Ghostbusters. It's the way my brain works. I want ours to be scarier than the original, to be quite honest. Katie Dipold and I are so focused on wanting to do scary comedy. We don't want to hold back."

What are your thoughts on combining the talents of a group of women that already have a successful history of working together? Will it ultimately benefit the updated Ghostbusters or could it possibly end up feeling like an extended SNL skit? Even if it does, will it still be worth seeing in the theater? One more interesting bit of buzz connected to this project is that although Bill Murray didn't want to reprise his original role he is reportedly being courted to make an appearance in the film. It sounds like he's already a fan of this new re-boot if he wants to be affiliated with it, right?
