Miley Cyrus and The Flaming Lips have been pretty close over the last year or so, making us wonder when we'd hear a collaboration from the controversial pop star and the iconic rockers. This week gave us our answer! While headlining the Adult Swim Upfronts last week, Cyrus premiered "Tiger Dreams" in a new performance. Check out this live footage right here:

The fact that Metric hasn't released new music in about 3 years is pretty criminal, so that's why we loved the fact that the Canadian dance rockers premiered the track "The Shade." We'll be treated to a new album at the end of 2015, but this week we got a great taste of what's to come with this new song. Check it out right here:

Are you excited for a new album from Saddle Creek's Mynabirds? Well you better be because this week we heard the band's newest song, "Semantics" and we're in for something special. Lead singer Laura Burhenn truly shines in this indie-pop number, making us eager for this new album, which will be titled Lovers Know. Listen to this new song right here:

We definitely love all of these new songs we've been hearing each and every week, but let's take a look at some covers and new takes on older tunes that premiered recently, too.

Last week, Prince debuted a new song, but this week R&B icon D'Angelo reworked the legend's song "She's Always in My Hair" for a Spotify session that is surely going to make your day. Take a listen right here!

We love when Spoon frontman Britt Daniel shares covers, but this week we got to hear him perform one of his own songs with his new touring band Sweet Spirit. Listen to this new take on "Paper Tiger" right here!

In order to set the mood for the new action film San Andreas starring Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, acclaimed singer-songwriter Sia has covered the Mamas and the Pappas' classic tune "California Dreaming," which an epic twist. Have a listen right here!

Folk singer Karen Dalton made some incredible music in her time, but some of her lyrics have gone unused since her passing over 20 years ago. In a new collaborative album entitled Remembering Mountains: Unheard Songs By Karen Dalton, we get a chance to hear these words with the help of current artists. The title track, "Remembering Mountains" is performed by Sharon Van Etten, making for a tremendous tribute to the late influential singer. Listen to this song here!

"The Way You'd Love Her" is the newest song from Mac DeMarco, who can't seem to cease from amazing listeners. Taking on a retro style, this new song is sweet and catchy mixing blues and pop. Listen to this new track right here:

Americana rockers Dawes premiered the brand new track "Right on Time" off of their upcoming album All Your Favorite Bands, and the timing is pretty great because we can always use new songs from them! Full of harmonies, classic rock guitar licks and so much more, this new track is sure to make your week. Listen right here:

Tom Waits isn't an easy performer to track down. He only comes out for special occasions, and David Letterman's retirement from hosting The Late Show is just that. In fact, the iconic songwriter premiered a brand new song entitled "Take One Last Look" during his performance, which definitely fits the farewell for Letterman. Watch this performance right here:

With a taste of the past involved in most of these new song premieres from the last week, you should absolutely consider sharing this mixtape with your elders!
