Miranda Lambert

Miranda Lambert is a hot country commodity and we all know the basics of her story. The 3rd place finisher of Nashville Star's first season at only 19, has won a Grammy, ACMs and CMA Awards and her debut 2005 project, Kerosene, went platinum. After five years of being together, she and hubby Blake Shelton tied the knot on May 14, 2011.

Five things about Miranda Lambert you may not know ...

  1. She collects salt and pepper shakers. Her collection passion used to be bells, but now she leans towards the less musical collectibles.
  2. Miranda is an animal lover with a capital L. Her and her mom, Bev, founded the non-profit MuttNation Foundation in December of 2009 to raise funds to help other animal non-profits build animal shelters for better care; increase pet adoption and encourage responsible pet guardianship; rehabilitate sick or unsocialized animals; fund spay/neuter programs; reduce/eliminate euthanasia of healthy animals; and train shelter dogs for purposes of therapy programs, assistance for wounded military personnel and dogs-in-prisons programs. Their "Mutts Across America Initiative" recently donated over a quarter of a million dollars to 50 shelters in 50 states. (January 2014)
  3. The star of her high school's production of Annie Get Your Gun, she came very close to playing Tammy Wynette in the musical play "Stand By Your Man" in 2001 but didn't make the final cut.
  4. After seeing a Garth Brooks concert at age 10, Miranda knew Country music was her destiny. She entered her first country music talent contest that same year.
  5. She was named after her great grandma, Lucy Miranda.
