Dascha Polanco captured the attention of many new fans for her role in the Netflix original series Orange Is The New Black, but as of late, the attention on Polanco has been due to a recent assualt charges against her for allegedly attacking a teenager. Polanco has been silent about the situation until now. She's opening up about what happened and showing how she's not too concerned with the outcome, stating, "nobody's gonna knock me down."

Polanco recently sat down with Huff Post Live to speak on her recent assault charges. The OITNB star allegedly assaulted a 17-year-old girl over the summer and was recently arraigned in a Manhattan court. If found guilty, Polanco could face up to a year in prison, but according to her statements made during the live interview, she's none too concerned about facing any jail time.

"People that know me and know my quality, my professionalism, who I am, they're not worried," the 33-year-old explained. "And neither am I."

The conversation on the assault began when the phone lines were opened, allowing fans and viewers to ask Polanco any of their questions. A viewer, La'Janee Cosby, skyped in, according to EUR, and spoke directly to her about the current legal matters.

Michelle Cardona, the alleged victim, reported that Polanco had allegedly attacked her in her home by punching "her in the head three times, pull[ing] her hair and claw[ing] her arms with her nails," as reported by Huffington Post earlier this month.

According Polanco, this is just the cost of being a celebrity and having people target you because you have money or fame. Her lawyers have based their defense off of this theory, citing that Cardona is only using the alleged assault story as a way to extort money from Polanco. But Polanco has a message for those who may try to come after her in this way, and that's to come a little harder, because "nobody's gonna knock [her] down, it takes more than that."
