Beyonce has been nominated for four Emmys following the release of her Lemonade HBO special.

The four-hour long special on HBO was released in conjunction with her album, Lemonade. The special can be seen as a visual representation of the album itself and was directed by Beyonce.

For her turn as a director on Lemonade, Beyonce has been nominated for Outstanding Directing For A Variety Special as well as her co-director, Kahlil Joseph.

The special also received Emmy nods for Outstanding Production Design For A Variety, Nonfiction, Event Or Award Special, Outstanding Picture Editing For Variety Programming, and Outstanding Variety Special according to NME.

Lemonade will be pitted against Adele’s Live In New York City special in the Emmy race, which documented the singer’s performance at Radio City Music Hall this past year. The special will also be in hot competition with Chris Rock for the Outstanding Direction award. Rock was nominated for his behind camera efforts on the special Amy Schumer: Live At The Apollo.

Beyonce’s Lemonade was released this past April and hit No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 following its release, which placed her at her sixth consecutive No. 1. It also sold 485,000 copies in the initial week of its release in the U.S.

In other Beyonce news, the singer recently posted an open letter and had a moment of silence at a concert stop in Glasgow in response to the Black Lives Matter movement. The movement deals with the recent deaths of Philando Castile and Alton Sterling due to police brutality.

In her short letter (via SPIN) Beyonce wrote, “We don’t need sympathy. We need everyone to respect our lives. We’re going to stand up as a community and fight against anyone who believes that murder or any violent action by those who are sworn to protect us should consistently go unpunished.”
