Olivia Rodrigo has publicly declared how Alanis Morisette greatly influenced her singing and songwriting career. Morisette, who is about to embark in a World Tour in July, sat down with Kelly Clarkson - revealing that she promised the breakout pop star something big.
The 40-year-old singer host, who has already produced nine studio albums to date and garnered massive accolades and awards, confessed that despite her age, is still "really into" Olivia Rodrigo's music.
Alanis Morisette Promised Olivia Rodrigo Something: What Could This Be?
In an interview on "The Kelly Clarkson Show" earlier today, Alanis Morisette talked about the rising pop rock singer Olivia Rodrigo.
Clarkson, who has also expressed her admiration for the young artist told Morisette how she feels like the two were almost cut out from the same fabric.
"I fell like y'all are very similar... you're different, but I thought, 'man, she had to have been, like, influenced by you a bit. 'Coz I feel like she was that artist that I feel like for her generation was like - my generation is like Alanis," Kelly explained.
Alanis, who had previously talked to Rodrigo, affirmed Kelly's statements - begging Kelly's question about what the "You Oughta Know" hitmaker had promised Rodrigo initially.

Turns out, Alanis Morisette promised Olivia Rodrigo that she would give her a "Tour Survival Kit."
"She mentioned that she was going on the road and hadn't done that a lot. There's also archetypally or constitutionally or your kind of a road dog or not. And I think that those of us who are road dogs we have little tricks up our sleeve of what to bring to survive for self-care," Alanis elaborated.
The survival kit that Morisette is mentioning is some sort of a self-care package that touring artists - like Olivia right now - must always bring as they trek from city to city.
Although she did not detail the contents of this gift box that she has yet to give Rodrigo, Morisette says that it is almost like an equivalent of a "blankie" for touring singers.
Olivia Rodrigo is currently on the last few legs of her North American tour, finishing Phoenix and San Diego yesterday. Tomorrow, she will be heading to Las Vegas before capping it off on Los Angeles for two nights.
