Deborah McCrary, one of the McCrary sisters' vocalists, passed away recently at 67 years old.

McCrary hails from the sister quartet, which was known for their "euphoric, soul-stirring harmonies and gospel stylings."

The McCrary Sisters spokesperson confirmed Deborah's passing recently.

However, the cause of death of Deborah McCrary remains a mystery up until now. It is expected that the reason for her death will become available in the coming days or weeks.

Deborah McCrary Health Status Before Death

Rolling Stone reports that the vocalist suffered a stroke in 2013. At that time, she felt threatened for her performing career, which led her to turn to her faith.

"I remembered that God does things for a reason," That's where I was supposed to be, with my sisters by my side. I thank God for my sisters because they've helped me in a lot of ways, and that whole experience gave me a deeper understanding of just how much I love being with them," Deborah said at the time to the Grand Ole Opry.

Deborah McCrary Music Career With The McCrary Sisters

Deborah, along with her sisters, has been a staple as a background singer for most country music artists.

She has recorded and performed with musicians like Gregg Allman, Chris Stapleton, Patty Griffin, Carrie Underwood, Margo Price, Robert Randolph, and Widespread Panic.

Last 2016, she appeared with Maren Morris at the CMA Awards - performing his then breakout hit "My Church." This is one of the most notable appearances of the quartet on television.

Despite their presence in Country music, Deborah and her sisters were most identified in the Americana movement.

All four of them were longstanding members of the Americana Honors & Awards house band. Their sound was deemed integral to the genre. This is because their sound became important to the genre while their artists further leaned toward other genres - R&B, soul, gospel, and blues.

Formed in Nashville, Tennessee, in 2010, the McCrary Sisters were composed of Ann, Deborah, Regina, and Alfreda.

Deborah is the second oldest next to Ann. The sisters came from a musical family as their father - Rev. Samuel McCrary, is an original member of Fairfield Ford, a gospel music group.

Aside from working with other influential artists, the group has released a total of four studio albums, with "A Very McCrary Christmas" being the last in 2019. They have also recorded one live album in 2017.
