John Dolmayan candidly opened up about his feelings regarding System Of A Down's lack of new music releases over the past years as the band only had two singles in more than a decade.

In an interview with Sona Oganesyan on YouTube, the drummer said he's happy that the band was able to release new music, but he wishes that they would create more.

"Cause, obviously, we still have something to give to the world. And when you put something out that actually makes an impact, you're, like, 'Why aren't we doing this all the time?' And then I go down the rabbit hole of frustration and anger," he told the interviewer. (via NME)

The musician added that he's a sensitive person and he couldn't contain his feelings anymore so he needs to find a way to release it.

It also takes him a long time to "deal with it and cope with it" because he's views life as realistic.

He later labeled the band's lack of new music as "insulting."

"It's an insult to everybody else that tries to make it in whatever endeavor they're trying to make," he added.

Dolmayan also clarified that they have talent, the ability to drop new song, a solid fan base and a good track record with 30 million records sold.

"That's like the worst - having the ability to do something and not doing it is, I think, the worst thing in the world as far as in the perspective of being an artist. You're just hurting yourself," he said.

The only thing the band could get together and create more music is if each member is willing to "put everything aside."

Although he's willing to do that, the drummer said he's unsure with his bandmates.

System Of A Down's last album, "Hypnotize," was released in 2005. Since then, they didn't drop any songs until 2020's "Protect The Land" and "Genocidal Humanoidz."

As of this writing, the band has not announced whether they're going to put more music out soon or not.

But frontman Serj Tankian shared a new solo song last month about the political elections in Armenia.

The track, titled "Amber," was sung in the Armenian language and was written in 2017 by him, Atom & Arsinee Egoyan and Eric Nazarian.
