A few months ago, news of Shakira's ex-husband Gerard Pique dating someone new hit headlines, which frustrated the Colombian singer, who claimed that the two made a pact not to be seen in public with a new partner for a least a year following their divorce, reports say.
Devastated, Shakira turned to her source of strength and only solace-music. In an interview with Elle Magazine, the singer opened up about how "therapeutic" and "gratifying" music-making was for her during the "darkest hour" of her life.
According to reports, aside from her divorce, she is also facing a custody battle with Pique over their two sons, Sasha and Milan, and facing an impending trial in Spain for tax fraud charges.

Step-Mom?
While the relationship between the Barcelona player and his new love, Clara Chia Marti, is still relatively new, the two have been spotted sharing public displays of affection toward each other.
Perhaps Pique thought it was time that his boys to meet the new love of his life. According to reports, he introduced Sasha and Milan to the 23-year-old, much to Shakira's chagrin, who just released a teaser for her new song, "Monotonía," with a video of a heart getting stepped on.
According to reports, the "She Wolf" singer posted the video on her Instagram account, captioning it "nunca dije nada, pero me dolía. Yo sabía que esto pasaría," which translates to "I never said anything but it hurt. I knew this would happen."
"Monotonía" was announced to be released on Oct. 19, as she revealed the cover art for the song. It showed a black heart getting stabbed with a sword.
Earlier this year, the "Waka Waka" singer and footballer called it quits after 12 years together. They are currently in a custody battle over their sons, with Pique insisting that the boys stay with him to continue their studies in Spain, reports say.
According to reports, Shakira accused her ex-husband of infidelity, and shortly after their separation, he was seen kissing Marti during a festival.
Sources close to the pair revealed that the two have been together for a while, keeping their relationship under wraps while Shakira and Pique handled their divorce.
