The Real Singer Behind Esméralda

In a previous article published by SlashFilm, writer Josh Spiegel revealed that there was artistry behind the character's voice as it shifted from a raspy seductive tone when she's talking to a velvet voice that captures the attention of listeners whenever she sings.

The real singer behind Esméralda was Heidi Mollenhauer. To this day, it was the musician's only on-screen work. The outlet noted that she currently works as a cabaret singer.

The musician previously expressed her gratitude to Alan Menken and Stephen Schwartz, saying it was an "absolute dream come true" to provide the singing voice for the character.

"I am incredibly proud to have been a part of such a beautiful movie that will surely be around long after I'm gone," she added.
