Dove Cameron just won the Best New Artist of the Year award at the 2022 American Music Awards, besting other up-and-coming artists in the music scene with her sheer charm and outstanding presence.

Her huge win came days after the 2023 Grammy Awards Nominations were released, a list where she is clearly nowhere to be found.

Despite being in the industry for quite a long time already as a Disney child star, Cameron only emerged in the mainstream scene early last year, as she debuted her solo singing career with her smash hit, "Boyfriend."

Because of this, Cameron catapulted to internet fame, with the song debuting on the Billboard Hot 100 at No. 16 and soaring at the US Mainstream Top 40 at No. 2.

To date, she has been nominated for four new artist/act categories, winning the two already - her MTV Video Music Awards and American Music Awards.

On both bills, Cameron had been nominated alongside emerging rap act Latto, Eurovision's Maneskin, TikTok star Gayle, rapper Baby Keem, and even KPop supergroup Seventeen.

Even before the 2023 Grammy Awards nominations were revealed, many publications predicted Cameron to be a frontrunner for Best New Artist. However, to fans' dismay, she was one of the biggest snubs of the night, alongside her idol, Nicki Minaj.

Because of her very vocal support for Minaj, the rap royalty's fans have turned their support on her too, especially during the voting process at the American Music Awards. Dove's fans and Minaj's Barbz have joined hand in hand in showing their love for each other, even campaigning for each other publicly.

That is why many fans are celebrating after Cameron took home the Best New Artist at the 2022 American Music Awards last Nov. 22, 2022.

As a clip of her speech was posted online, Barbz are also celebrating her win, noting that their support meant a lot more, considering that she and Nicki were two of the biggest snubs at the 2023 Grammys.

"Congratulations to both @DoveCameron and @NICKIMINAJ. Both Barbz and Dovelies vote the HELL outta it to get our faves to win!!!" a fan tweeted.

"Congratulations to the gorgeous @DoveCameron who today becomes the artist to win best new artist of the year. #1 at the @vmas and today her first @AMAs #2 for her and with that she gets two new artist of the year awards. All the barbz support you!! #AMAs," another posted.
