Mariah Carey just made a surprise Broadway debut but in the most low-key way possible! Can you even guess how?

The "All I Want For Christmas Is You" singer welcomed guests before the opening of "Some Like It Hot."

"Welcome to the Shubert Theater!" Carey began in a pre-recorded message. "At this time, please take a moment to turn off your cell phones. And remember: The use of photographic equipment and recording devices is strictly prohibited. And now, Some Like It Hot."

According to reports, many were surprised to hear Carey do the introduction for the opening, even including the cast of the musical, who feigned fainting and surprise.

Furthermore, People reported that the musical was well-attended by other Broadway personalities like Bette Midler, Jane Krakowski, Nathan Lane, and Victor Garber.

A video from the theatre also showed other celebrities in attendance, like Uma Thurman, John Stamos, Andy Cohen, Martin Short, Emily Mortimer, and more.

Hands-On

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Carey joined the production team of "Some Like It Hot" last month as a co-producer for the musical, which is a revival of the 1959 movie of the same name, starring Marilyn Monroe.

"I first became familiar with this story through the timeless film starring Marilyn Monroe. She's been an important touchstone throughout my life, so much so that I acquired her treasured baby grand white piano at an auction," said Carey, who is a big Monroe fan, and even named her daughter after the 50s bombshell.

"When Neil Meron shared this new take on the beloved film, I knew I had to be a part of it. To see how this show continues to expand on the film's legacy - pushing boundaries, promoting inclusion, celebrating diversity - I'm proud to help bring Some Like It Hot for today's world to new audiences."

Billboard reported that the "Fantasy" singer announced the exciting news through social media, and noted that the singer managed to squeeze in her co-producer duties along with her other gigs like the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade and other projects.

According to reports, this marks the first time Carey has worked in Broadway, and it might not be her last, however, she is yet to comment on that.

"Some Like it Hot" includes a music score by Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman, followed the story of two musicians fleeing away from Chicago after witnessing a mob hit.
