Despite being one of the most successful artists of this generation, Ed Sheeran is much like other people who tend to step away from social media to rearrange their priorities and sort their life and themselves out.

"Hi guys, so I realize I haven't been that engaged in my social media or my fan base online over the last couple of years," was the first thing the 31-year-old singer said in his latest social media update.

The "Bad Habits" singer finally returned to social media after a hiatus that began back in 2022, although it is worth noting that even prior to his planned hiatus, Sheeran has always kept his distance from social media.

"And the things that have been posted on this account might have got a bit boring. And I'm sorry, it's my fault," he continued.

Many people just simply thought that he wasn't the social media type of person, however, apparently, it was not the case.

"Umm, the reason I'm making this video is, just being totally honest, I've had some turbulent things been happening in my personal life, so I just didn't really feel like being online and pretending to be something I'm not when I wasn't feeling like that."

Sheeran did not divulge exactly what caused his personal life to become so turbulent, however, the signs of distress were somewhat there when he suddenly announced his semi-retirement back in 2019, reports say.

According to Buzzfeed, there might be other reasons why Sheeran has opted out of engaging in social media, as he is now busy with being a father of two.

Although the "Shape of You" singer is easing his way back into Instagram, it looks like he has no intentions-or at least, for now-of coming back to Twitter.

His lack of presence in Twitter was, however, remedied by an account handled by his management team, "Ed Sheeran HQ."

Another reason why Sheeran might be back on social media is that he's riding the high from his massively successful "Mathematics Tour."

According to Billboard, the tour earned the "Shivers" singer a No. 3 spot on the 2022 Top Tours Chart with $246.3 million.

He is still currently on tour, and perhaps he just wants to let in the fans about what goes on with his life on the road.

He then ended his confession video on a lighter note: "So you know, weird s**t is gonna start being posted here. I've made this video about 50 f**king times I'm not making another one!"
