After 22 seasons of "The Voice," Jimmy Fallon finally gave it a shot and braved the gruesome Blind Auditions of the singing reality competition.

Channeling Michael McDonald as he performed the iconic 1992 hit "I Keep Forgettin' (Every Time You're Near)," Fallon surprised the studio crowd as soon as the lights hit him during the Blind Auditions.

The audience bolted to their seats, cheering and hyping Fallon, who is almost inaudible in his Michael McDonald impersonation.

It was Kelly Clarkson who first hit the button, then newbie coach Niall Horan followed suit - sending them into a good laugh as soon as they saw a familiar face on stage.

Chance The Rapper, who is also a first-time coach, was floored to see Fallon performing on stage.

Now getting three coach chair turns, Fallon gave his best in giving his performance of a lifetime, prompting Clarkson to get up on her feet and dance to his song.

Blake Shelton, on the other hand, seemed unfazed, despite Horan convincing him to turn around for the performance.

Annoyed and impatient for Shelton not to turn his chair, Fallon did the unthinkable and approached him on his bench.

And as soon as he was beside Shelton, he immediately pressed the button at the last note of his song - which finally gave him a four-chair turn.

"You broke the rules," Shelton told the late-night show host after he said that he had to.

Receiving wild applause from everyone in the studio, Fallon explained that he was just across the NBC lot for the production of his newest game show, "That's My Jam."

"I texted Carson and said I gotta come over and say 'Hey buddy, 23 seasons, congratulations, you're a legend," Fallon told Shelton as the two shared a good hug.

According to Shelton, he knew already what was going on, and there was "no way" he'll be hitting that button.

As Fallon greeted everyone on the bench, he again did a Michael McDonald impersonation, as Chance told him he thought he was the late legend.

Clarkson, who returns this season after exiting two seasons prior, made the pitch and jokingly said that since she turned first, Fallon's going to be on her team.

In a side interview, Shelton had more to say: "It didn't take me long to figure out that it was Jimmy Fallon and there was no way I was gonna hit my button. He does not deserve a chair turn on this show. Jimmy's impersonation is the equivalent of walking up to Michael McDonald and slapping him in the face as hard as you can."

There is a running joke on the set that Shelton has to get everything he wants since it would be his last season on the show. He is departing the show after years as a judge. He is the last standing judge of the original four coaches of the first season, besting Adam Levine, Christina Aguilera, and Cee Lo Green.
