Ever since the likes of Rami Malek, Taron Egerton, and most recently, Austin Butler played music icons on the big screen, the audience for biopics has exponentially grown throughout the years.

The next music icon who gets to have his highly-anticipated biopic is Bob Dylan, played by well-loved actor Timothée Chalamet. Most recently, it was revealed that Chalamet, who is not a singer, will actually sing in the said film.

Bob Dylan Biopic: Timothée Chalamet Plays The Lead

It was previously announced that Timothée Chalamet was cast to portray the iconic singer Bob Dylan in an upcoming biopic. However, it wasn't actually a precursor that the casted actor is a great singer like Dylan.

Chalamet amassed prominence after his outstanding performance in the 2017 coming-out-of-age film "Call Me By Your Name" with Armie Hammer. He was also in Greta Gerwig's "Ladybird" and "Little Women," Wes Anderson's "The French Dispatch," and the "Dune" franchise.

The 27-year-old actor isn't actually a singer, which is why many were quite shocked that he would be playing the beloved singer and performer.

In a recent interview with James Mangold, the director of the upcoming biopic, he revealed a rather significant development in the film.

According to a Collider interview, Mangold revealed that Chalamet would "of course" sing in the said film. Likewise, he would also debut his singing career and vocal chops on "Wonka," where he is also set to play the titular fictional character.

Apparently, Chalamet will be performing seven musical numbers in the "Wonka" film, which is a daunting task for an inexperienced singer and performer like Chalamet.

Bob Dylan Biopic: What Is it About?

Based on Mangold's statements, the biopic, which was already titled "A Complete Unknown," would center on Dylan's story of coming to the Big Apple with two dollars and a pocketful of dreams.

"First being embraced into the family of folk music in New York and then, of course, kind of outrunning them at a certain point as his star rises so beyond belief. It's such an interesting true story and about such an interesting moment in the American scene," Mangold told Collider.

Other influential figures like Joan Baez, Woody Guthrie, and Pete Seeger will also be present in the upcoming film, Rolling Stone reports.
