Shane Hawkins joined Foo Fighters in honoring the late drummer, Taylor Hawkins, following his death.

Foo Fighters made a huge decision when they announced they would not disband after Hawkins' death. Instead of ending the band's legacy, the members chose to honor Hawkins by making music and touring.

During the band's latest appearance, Foo Fighters gave their fans a present.

Shane Hawkins Pays Tribute To Father Taylor Hawkins

On May 26, Foo Fighters conquered the stage at the Boston Calling Music Festival at the Harvard Athletic Complex in Allston, Massachusetts during which the band honored and paid tribute to their late drummer.

After playing a few songs, Dave Grohl told the audience they would play with one of his favorite drummers in the world. He then introduced Taylor's son, 17-year-old Shane, to the crowd, according to People.

Foo Fighters and Shane then played the band's hit song, "I'll Stick Around."

"I'm gonna do it for Taylor's family, and I'm gonna do it for Taylor, because we used to sing it together," Grohl told the crowd. "So our band is truly like a family. Because we've been together for so long, we truly love each other. So tonight, all of our families are here because we have to do this together."

At the end of the show, Grohl performed "Monkey Wrench" and dedicated Foo Fighters' hit song to "Shane and the Hawkins family."

Their appearance marked the first time the band performed at the festival after missing the 2022 event following Taylor's death. It also became the second time they performed with their new drummer, Josh Freese.

Who Replaced Taylor Hawkins in Foo Fighters' Tours?

Grohl, Nate Mandel, Rami Jaffee, Chris Shiflett, and Pat Smear welcomed Freese to the band earlier this month. Initial reports said he would be filling in for the band's live shows, but the reports did not disclose whether he would become a permanent member of the band.

If it happens, Freese would be Foo Fighters' third drummer after Hawkins and William Goldsmith. The latter participated in the band's "The Colour and Shape" LP in 2017.

Grohl himself also served as Foo Fighters' drummer on some occasions, including in the 2005 "In Your Honor. "In fact, he also confirmed that he recorded the drums on the band's 11th album, "But Here We Are."
