Amaranthe delivered two massive news to fans: a new single and a new frontman.

Amaranthe updated its 2023 lineup as the band released its new single this year. Following a series of changes, the group now has Elize Ryd and Nils Molin on vocals, Olof Morck on guitars and keyboards, Johan Andreassen on bass, Morten Løwe Sørensen on drums, and new member Mikael Sehlin on growls.

Amaranthe Drops New Single

The Sweden modern metal rockers dropped its newest single on YouTube, titled "Damnation Flame." The track presents a catchy chorus that contains lyrics that prove the members' notable songwriting skills.

Mörck talked about the new song (via Blabbermouth) and explained that the track paved way for the band as it broke new ground in many ways.

"This is the very first AMARANTHE song to feature symphonic elements, something we've wanted to do for a long time," he said, adding, "And the darkened vampiric theme melds together perfectly with our take on modern melodic metal!"

The guitarist hyped fans as he shared how Amaranthe has been preparing to offer more soon following the release of the single. But apart from the new music, the band also introduced its new vocalist.

Who Is Amaranthe's New Vocalist, Mikael Sehlin?

Through "Damnation Flame," Amaranthe also presented Sehlin as the band's new vocalist.

In a statement shared by Distorted Sound Magazine, Olof shared his thoughts about welcoming Sehlin on board, saying that they found the "right person for the job" in Stockholm. He praised the new vocalist's versatility and musicality that reportedly complemented and completed the band's new album.

Per Olof, Shelin's grunts and screams will also fit Amaranthe's future completely; thus, he asked fans to welcome the new vocalist warmly.

"I am very thrilled to tell you I will fill the slot as the new AMARANTHE growler and I can't wait to meet you guys out there!" Sehlin said after he was welcomed to the band. "I hope you like the upcoming tracks to which I've had the honor recording growls to."

According to Sehlin's Facebook page, he previously served as the lead singer of Engel, Degradead, and Paralydiu before joining his new band.

Amaranthe debuted in 2011 with its self-titled album before dropping more hit albums and songs in they years thereafter, including "Massive Addictive" and "Maximalism." It also released "Helix" in 2018 which the band referred to as the thing that "pushed" its vision to new heights and depths.
