How Did Cory Montieth Die?

According to a coroner's report, Cory Montieth died of a drug overdose. Specifically, he died of combined heroin and alcohol toxicity. No foul play was reported as the actor, 31, had been very open about his addiction and condition in the past. (via Style Caster)

"We are so saddened to confirm that the reports on the death of Cory Monteith are accurate. We are in shock and mourning this tragic loss," his representative said at the time.

On Jul. 13, 2023, Monteith was found in his hotel room in Vancouver, Canada. He was ending a seven-day stay at the time. He failed to check out of his room and hotel staff discovered his lifeless body in his room. It was reported at the time that he was "clearly deceased and resuscitation was not attempted."

A huge adjustment for the show was made. Currently, the show was halfway filming the upcoming fifth season of the show at the time. Because of Monteith's death, it was reshot and rewritten.

Controversially, a tribute episode was written and filmed weeks after Monteith's death. It was said to have been shot that early so that the cast still had raw feelings and emotions about Monteith's death.

How Did Finn Hudson Die On 'Glee'?

On the third episode of the show's fifth season, a whole episode dedicated to Cory Monteith's character Finn Hudson was made. Titled "The Quarterback," in reference to Monteith's character's position in the football team, the episode featured montages and tribute songs for him.

In the show, it was never fully addressed how Cory Monteith's character, Finn Hudson, died; it was just implied that he died. Entertainment Weekly criticized this decision of "Glee" writers, calling it "the most conspicuous and debatable choice made by the Glee creators."

Despite this, the episode received critical acclaim from various publications.
