Yes guitarist Steve Howe is not up to joining the band's reunion if there will ever be one.

For years, Yes had been sparking reunion talks as fans wanted to see them on one stage together again following the group's Rock and Roll Induction in 2017. The band gave its fans a new studio album this year, "Mirror to the Sky," released in May, but the move reportedly did not mean the members would reunite again.

Why Steve Howe Will Not Join a Yes Reunion

Following the success of Yes' 2021 album, the group released this year's record and hyped fans about a reunion show. But for Howe, the guitarist remained uninterested in reuniting with the members.

In a recent interview with Classic Rock, the guitarist shared how their previous tour affected the potential Yes reunion.

"It's something I'm absolutely resistant to because I remember the fiasco of the Union tour," he said. "It was very, very difficult and out of control. Sometimes I might have thought: 'Well, one day maybe,' and one never wants to say never, but basically, I can't see it."

Howe referenced Yes members' reunion during the 1991 to 1992 global trek, during which eight members of the band's various lineup performed together.

Seeing them together again would be impossible, as well, as some key members passed away over the past years, including Alan White and Chris Squire. Others, like Jon Anderson and Rick Wakeman, started pursuing different careers and solo projects.

For the guitarist, he would rather focus on the present instead of highlighting his past again through a reunion tour. Previously, he shared the same sentiment and branded a Yes reunion "completely unthinkable" due to the "lack of stamina and appetite" to do it all over again.

Steve Howe To Tour in US

Despite his resistance, Howe will be joining Yes other members in its upcoming Classic Tales Of Yes tour, which will start on Sep. 21 in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, and end on Nov. 4 in Riverside, California.

Howe will be joined by Jay Schellen on drums, Jon Davidson on vocals and acoustic guitar, Billy Sherwood on bass guitar and vocals, and Geoff Downes on keyboards.

"As always, we are committed to pushing new boundaries and are very excited to be performing another chapter in the rich legacy of the band," Downes said.
