The MTV Video Vanguard Award is the highest honor an artist can receive from the MTS Video Music Awards, which is why fans-and the producers of the show-want to make sure that whoever receives the award is deserving of it.

Artists like Madonna, Britney Spears, Kanye West, Rihanna, Beyonce, U2, Janet Jackson, and Nicki Minaj have been presented with the coveted Lifetime Achievement Award.

According to reports, Taylor Swift, Katy Perry, Miley Cyrus, The Weeknd, Drake, Kendrick Lamar, the Jonas Brothers, Bruno Mars, Selena Gomez, and Ariana Grande are being considered for the prestigious and coveted award.

Out of all the artists mentioned the one that made fans make a double take was Grande, who has not released any new music in the last couple of years, unlike Cyrus who just dropped her chart-topping album "Endless Summer Vacation" or Swfit with "Midnights."

Ariana Grande Is Busy With 'Wicked'

Several of the other artists are also currently on tour, which proves that their career is in full swing, however, this is not the same for the "Positions" singer who has been mainly focusing on her acting career as of late.

Billboard, however, thinks that Grande has a chance to win the MTV Video Vanguard Award for her "consistent commitment to high-quality music videos."

The news outlet also claims that the award is the perfect excuse for Grande to be reminded of her music career, and perhaps release a song or two again.

Fans disagree with Billboard's prediction and claim that the singer is not ready to receive the award.

"Way too soon," one wrote.

"I would be mad at it," another added.

It seems like, though, that fans prefer to Perry over any of the other singers mentioned as contenders.

"[I don't know] who will win this year but Katy Perry has to win it at some point," a fan wrote.

"Ngl Katy deserves this the most, her music videos are ICONICCC."

"Katy or Taylor are the only real choices," another added.
