Tory Lanez, formally known as Daystar Peterson, was sentenced to 10 years in prison after being convicted of shooting Megan Thee Stallion in 2020.

Judge David Herriford of the Superior Court of Los Angeles County in California served the sentence, as reported by The New York Times.

Tory Lanez Sentence: 10 Years Jailtime

After initially seeking a 13-year behind bars sentence by the prosecutors, Tory Lanez was served with a reduced sentence of 10 years. The 13 year sentence was brought upon because of Peterson's subsequent violations of pre-trial court orders as he "waged a campaign to humiliate and re-traumatize [Megan]."

"He not only shot me, he made a mockery of my trauma," Megan Thee Stallion, formally known as Megan Pete, wrote in a statement. "This is a statement for all survivors that their lives matter and there is zero tolerance for the torture that accompanies violence."

Initially, Peterson was supposed to be sentenced in February 2023 but the defense filed for a motion for mistrial as they changed legal counsel, pointing out that the initial defense for Peterson misrepresented him. (via HipHopDX)

Very recently, Peterson received more than 70+ letters of support, one of them from rapper Iggy Azalea.

What is Tory Lanez Convicted Of?

Tory Lanez has been in jail without bond since December 2022 when a jury found him guilty.

He was convicted of one felony count each of assault with a semiautomatic firearm, negligent discharge of a firearm, and carrying a loaded, unregistered firearm in a vehicle.

Per Variety, a jury of seven women and five men had deliberated Tory Lanez's conviction back in December. The dramatic, high-profile trial lasted for two weeks with the conviction becoming a Christmas Nightmare for Peterson, and a Christmas Miracle for Pete.

Although many claimed that the lawsuit was full of oddities, as Iggy Azalea did - it was confirmed that Tory Lanez shot Megan Thee Stallion in the feet in 2020 in California after a heated altercation on an SUV turned bloody.

Initially, Megan Thee Stallion claimed that she only stepped on broken glass when she went to the hospital as she was initially hesitant to name Tory Lanez at the time. Later on, she eventually confessed it was him, with the surgeon who pulled out glass shards from Meg's feet testifying in court.
