KIX guitarist Brian Forsythe revealed that he suffered a health scare that almost affected his performance in the band's last performances.

Decades after KIX was founded, the band marked its final concert on September 17 at the Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, Md., with former guitarists Ronnie Younkins and Brad Divens.

In a new interview, Forsythe shared the health condition he suffered from that almost derailed his participation in the shows.

What Happened to Brian Forsythe?

Speaking with Waste Some Time With Jason Green, Forsythe revealed that he suffered a ministroke following a carbon monoxide poisoning.

"That was weird, because my girlfriend was out of town at the time for a few days," he recalled the incident, which happened in May. "And I woke up one morning and I just thought I couldn't shake - I thought I was just groggy, and I was disoriented and a little dizzy and I just thought I couldn't wake up."

Despite what he felt, he still went out to complete his schedule until he thought something was wrong while doing his podcast that night.

The guitarist reportedly could not say a sentence, though he did not think it was a stroke.

The man he worked on the podcast with eventually texted him and asked him to check if he wanted to check into carbon monoxide.

Forsythe admitted that he moved his detector in the garage because it kept beeping after getting a new water heater. He got it back and installed it again days before he finally went to the emergency room and confirmed it was carbon monoxide poisoning and not tick bite related.

Other KIX Members' Struggles Revealed

Prior to Forsythe's revelation, several KIX members also suffered health issues over the past years.

Vocalist Steve Whiteman said that he would retire because he got sick of all the travel already. Drummer Jimmy Chalfant also suffered a cardiac arrest amid the band's concert at the Tally Ho Theater in Leesburg, Va., on November 18, 2022.

"Well, the first [time I was rushed to the hospital] was [due to] a heart attack. The second one was actually a cardiac arrest, where my heart stopped - while we were performing," he told "Trunk Nation With Eddie Trunk" months after the arrest.
