Grimes and X CEO Elon Musk have had a pretty complicated relationship and that transcends to the complexity of their custody of their children.
Now, the singer is suing Musk over a matter involving their children and their custody.
Grimes Sues Elon Musk Over Parental Rights
According to legal documents obtained by Page Six exclusively, Grimes filed a petition on Sept. 29, 2023, in a California court to "establish parental relationship."
According to the documents, Grimes is asking the court to identify the legal parents of the child because they were unmarried.
The outlet noted that the documents were public, but the filings were sealed. As of this writing, it is not known yet whether Musk has already responded to Grimes' court petition.
Notably, Grimes has yet to request child support and or custody rights.
Apparently, the filing came after a now-deleted tweet of Grimes was posted on X/Twitter, Elon's newly acquired platform.
"tell Elon to let me see my son or plz respond to my lawyer," she said in the tweet.
She also added that she has never ever been allowed to see a photo of their children despite the situation "utterly ripping" her family apart.
TMZ noted that unless Grimes would be declared an "unfit" mother, the suit could go to Musk. However, some judges usually grant joint custody, although a 50/50 schedule might not always be the case.
Last month, Jezebel reported that Grimes "begged" Musk to allow her to see their children.
In a post on Sept. 10, Grimes called for people not to blast Shivon Zilis, Musk's new girlfriend.
"I spoke with Shivon at length finally, which was long overdue. This wasn't her fault, plz don't be angry at her! We respect each other a lot and we're excited to become friends and have the kids grow up together," she added. "Women are so often pitted against each other. Speaking with Shivon, it's very evident she's an amazing human and we both just want what's best for our kids."

Grimes, Elon Musk Children
According to Forbes, Grimes and Elon Musk dated from 2018 to 2021 on and off. They welcomed their first son, X Æ A-Xii in May 2020.
Their daughter, Exa Dark Sideræl, was born via a surrogate the following year. They welcomed Techno Mechanicus last year, which was only revealed in a September review of Musk's new biography.
