Earlier this month, Maren Morris shocked the world as it was reported that she filed for divorce from her now-estranged husband, Ryan Hurd. More recently, sources reveal that the singer did not expect the legal separation at all; what happened?

According to an insider who spoke with Us Weekly Magazine, Hurd "wasn't expecting" the divorce from his wife as he found the legal separation as something that came "out of the blue."

As of this writing, neither of the two musicians have addressed the matter. While it's unclear why the pair split in the first place, legal documents state that the reason why their marriage ended was due to "irreconcilable differences."

Maren Morris, Ryan Hurd Divorce

The latest news comes a few weeks after Maren Morris sought for legal separation from her longtime partner, Ryan Hurd, five years after they got married.

The divorce papers were filed in the state of Tennessee to put an end in their marriage.

It was revealed in the legal documents that the pair have been separated for a while before Morris filed for divorce, but it was still unclear if they had been having problems months prior the legal move.

Maren Morris and Ryan Hurd are parents to their three-year-old son named Hayes Andrew.

After the divorce filing, the pair were required to attend a parenting seminar order as their legal separation involves a child.

In addition, there was a prenup in place in order to determine the distribution of wealth.

Just weeks before Morris did the legal move, Hurd publicly supported his wife's decision to leave the country music industry due to its toxicity on his official Instagram account.

"She deserves to be celebrated, not just tolerated. I love the response from people who don't just love these two songs, they needed them," he wrote in a post honoring his wife.

Maren Morris Seemingly Addressed Divorce Online

Amid the divorce filing, Maren Morris seemingly hinted at her divorce by posting a cryptic quote on her social media profile.

"It will be fine. It will just be, and when it is, you will face what's necessary," she shared on her Instagram story.

She later shared a series of photos on the platform, adding "Welcome to The End where you can come and lose some friends..."

In one of the photos, the singer could be seen without her wedding ring already.
