Venezuelan prosecution officially reopened the case of Canserbero's death eight years after the authorities said he died by suicide.

The late rapper, born Tirone José González Orama, died on January 20, 2015, after reportedly jumping off a building in Andrés Bello, Maracay. His pal Carlos Molnar, a member of the reggae band Zion TPL, was found dead in an apartment in the same building, leading authorities to suspect Canserbero's death.

Was Foul Play Involved in Canserbero's Death?

After years of appeals from Canserbero's friends and family that fueled the scrutiny surrounding his death, the attorney general announced that the prosecution would reopen the case to determine whether he did kill himself.

On X, Attorney General Tarek William Saab said they requested to file a case in the city of Caracas. With the 85th National Prosecutor's Office, he ordered the General Directorate of Support to the Criminal Investigation to contact and transfer Field Criminal Unit experts who could look into the demise.

As part of the process, Canserbero's family was reportedly interviewed at the Main Headquarters of the Public Prosecutor's Office.

Per Saab, the investigations process will include a site approach, technical inspection, planimetric survey, physical calculation of free fall, witness interviews, technical recognition of criminalistic evidence and other field investigation actions.

"I congratulate the attorney general who reopened the investigation into the death of Canserbero. All my support to clarify what happened to him. One of the most important singers of Venezuelan and Latin American urban music," Venezuelan president Nicolás Maduro shared during the Monday, November 13, episode of his show, "Con Maduro+."

What Happened to Canserbero?

Multiple reports cited initial police findings, which suggested that Canserbero went to Molnar's apartment on the 10th floor of the building and stabbed him to death. An official statement from Venezuelan authorities added that the rapper took his own life by jumping from the same floor.

Natalia Améstica, Molnar's partner, called the authorities and testified that she witnessed the event.

Additional information claimed Canserbero had schizophrenia, which his family dismissed as they insisted that he had no mental health issues.

However, the loopholes in the official findings suggested that he might have been pushed off the floor.

Canserbero was recognized by Billboard Latin and Español in April as one of the most essential Spanish-speaking rappers.
