Back in 2016, Kim Kardashian rallied her followers to bully and go after Taylor Swift by releasing an edited illegally recorded phone call the singer had with Kanye West about his controversial song "Famous."

"You have a fully manufactured frame job, in an illegally recorded phone call, which Kim Kardashian edited and then put out to say to everyone that I was a liar," Swift told Time Magazine for her Person of The Year story.

After that, Swift kept herself obscured from the public eye. She made sure to lay low and refused to be physically seen; she also did not release anything for years.

"That took me down psychologically to a place I've never been before. I moved to a foreign country.

I didn't leave a rental house for a year. I was afraid to get on phone calls. I pushed away most people in my life because I didn't trust anyone anymore. I went down really, really hard," she added.

Taylor Swift Almost Had a 'Career Death'

During the scandal, which netizens refer to as "Snake Gate," the "Cruel Summer" singer felt as if her career had ended right then and there.

Her Instagram posts were filled with snake emojis, and it was perpetuated by the "Keeping Up With The Kardashians" star's tweet calling that fateful day "National Snake Day."

"Make no mistake-my career was taken away from me," Swift declared.

Taylor Swift Bounces Back With 'Reputation'

By 2017, Swift felt safe enough to return to the United States and released her highly anticipated album, "Reputation."

While the album alludes to mysterious and dark themes, the songs on "Reputation" are relatively tame and do not put her enemies in a bad light.

In fact, Swift sings about her rising from the ashes with songs like "This Is Why We Can't Have Nice Things" and "Look What You Made Me Do."

Most of the songs on the album are about her love story with her then-boyfriend Joe Alwyn. She dedicated multiple songs to him, including "Delicate," "Gorgeous," "Don't Blame Me," "Dress," and more.

As of this writing, though, neither West nor Kardashian have addressed Swift's statement about them nor about the scandal at the time.
