Calling all music enthusiasts! The Smashing Pumpkins are looking for a brand new guitarist who would help them produce new songs and even perform some of them classic music from their decades-long catalog; check out all the details below.

According to Entertainment Weekly, the Grammy Award-winning band revaled that they will add a new guitarist to their current lineup, which is a possible replacement of Jeff Schroeder who departed from the group a few months ago.

Members of Smashing Pumpkins as of the moment are Billy Corgan, James Iha, Jimmy Chamberlain.

In a post shared on social media, the trio wrote, "The Smashing Pumpkins are in search of an additional guitarist. The application process is open to anyone who might be interested. Applicants may submit a resume and related materials."

What Happened to Jeff Schroeder

The band's announcement comes a few months after their former guitarist, Jeff Schroeder, who had been a member of the group since 2007, announced that he would be parting ways with his bandmates.

In a statement shared on social media at the time, he noted that he was able to spend 16 years with his bandmates and the memories he made with them are "almost too numerous to quantify."

He admitted that it was a "very difficult" decision to make, but he already made up his mind to "explore a slightly different path."

Regardless, Schroeder will continue supporting his former bandmates, as he added: "I want to thank Billy, Jimmy, James, and Jack for being both wonderful bandmates and even better friends. I will absolutely miss sharing the stage with you. I wish the band all the success in the future. I will be watching and listening."

The Smashing Pumpkins' Response

After Schroeder's announcement, remaining band members shared a joint statement, saying words couldn't express how grateful and appreciative they were for the friend the former guitarist was and being their for the group in both good and tough times.
