When Sophie Ellis-Bextor dropped "Murder on The Dancefloor" 23 years ago, it peaked at No. 2 on the official UK Singles Chart, but now that more and more people are getting hooked once again, it might peak even higher this time around.

According to reports, the 2001 song received renewed attention and love after being featured in the 2023 film "Saltburn," starring Jacob Elordi, Barry Keoughan, and Rosamund Pike.

The song has since gone viral on TikTok, as more and more people--as well as celebrities, like Paris Hilton--use the song in their videos.

Following the massive success of her song again, Ellis-Bextor shared how grateful and honored she feels about it.

"I'm always very connected to my music, and one thing I've always loved about my work is its ability to surprise me," she said. "'Murder on the Dancefloor' is a song I've been singing for 20 years, and I'm on really good terms with it. I love singing it, I love performing it and what's happening at the moment is kind of magical, actually."

This is not the first time such a "magical adventure" is happening to decades-old songs getting renewed attention and reentering the music charts.

In 2022, Kate Bush's "Running Up That Hill" landed No. 1 on the music charts after it was featured on Netflix's hit show, "Stranger Things."

It happened again with "Goo Goo Muck" by The Cramps when it was featured in another Netflix series, "Wednesday."

Sophie Ellis-Bextor Allows 'Saltburn' to Use Her Song

"But he was fine. He was like 'that was in my Top 10 favourite films I've ever seen'. I was sort of projecting my worry on him but I did have my head in my hands at least twice during the film - you can probably guess when," the singer explained about how "Saltburn" producers asked for her permission to use her song in the movie.

Netizens could not help but laud her for allowing her song to be used, giving it another chance to claim the No. 1 spot on the music charts.

"Excellent for old hit, but she has other incredible tunes," one wrote.

"Certified classic," another added.

As per Pop Crave, "Murder on the Dancefloor" has earned 1.592 million streams and peaked at No. 74 on global Spotify.
