Ariana DeBose graced the 2024 Critics Choice Awards because the film "Wish," which she starred in, was nominated for two nominations - Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song for "This Wish."

Sadly, as the Tony-nominated actress was quietly enjoying the evening, she became the brunt of the joke that "The Last Of Us" actress Bella Ramsey threw, which sent people online, and DeBose herself unamused.

Ramsey started by praising "some of the most famous voices in the music industry," but after that, she dug at the "actors who think they're singers."

She mentioned Jack Black, Ryan Gosling, and Ariana DeBose. DeBose's reaction to the joke was flashed on the screen, and she flashed a faint but weirded-out smile on the joke.

Ultimately, Ronson, who wrote "I'm Just Ken" for "Barbie" snagged the Critics Choice Award for Best Original Song.

As the joke went viral online, people started reacting to it, including DeBose who shared her reaction on Instagram.

Ariana DeBose Unamused On Singing Joke

It seemed like the Oscar-winning actress was hurt by the rather tasteless dig. Unbeknownst to many, DeBose was a classically trained Broadway singer, actress, and dancer.

She was on the original Broadway Production of "Hamilton" along with Lin Manuel Miranda, Leslie Odom Jr., and Daveed Diggs, among many others. By far, she is the only member of the cast who has won an Academy Award.

In 2022, DeBose won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for Steven Spielberg's 2022 remake of "West Side Story," where she played Anita, previously played by Rita Moreno. She won the award with a singing role. She also won a BAFTA Film Award, a Golden Globe Award, and a Screen Actors Guild, and has hosted two Tony Awards in the past.

She also got nominated for a Tony Award for Best Featured Actress in a Musical in "Summer: The Donna Summer Musical," where she played Donna Summer herself. Her credits also featured "Les Miserables," "Hairspray," "A Bronx Tale," "Pippin'," "Motown: The Musical," "Bring It On," and "Company," among many others.
