    Metal fans who haven't quite caught up with the most well-regarded albums in the genre from 2014 might want to do so quickly, as soon Electric Wizard's acclaimed album Time To Die will soon be gone from shelves due to a legal dispute within the band. Spinefarm, the label carrying the album-which appeared on many "best of" lists at the end of last year-has agreed to pull albums from shelves, including from digital outlets such as iTunes, until the matter has been settled.

  • UK Rapper Harry Shotta "Breaks" Eminem's 'Rap God' Record; Does It Count?

    UK rapper Harry Shotta set his eyes on breaking Eminem's record for most words in a hit single, which the Detroit emcee did by dropping 1,560 within the track "Rap God." The British rapper thinks he's got the record on lock as his song "Animal" managed to squeeze 1,771 words into roughly the same timespan as "Rap God" (just more than six minutes).

  • Spotify Charts Most Popular Keys in 30 Million Song Catalogue (Hint: It's Major)

    Spotify's Insights blog took to the streaming service's massive music catalogue with the intent of figuring out what keys were most popular among the 30 million tracks. Every song is based around one of 12 possible notes, as well as a mode (generally major for "happier" music and minor for "sad"). That results in nearly every piece of Western music being played in one of 24 possible keys. Jazz pianist Kenny Ning moonlights as a data analyst for Spotify and he charted the results of what he found. So what key was most popular?

    James Last, the iconic bandleader known as the "King of Easy Listening" (and, more catchily, the "Emperor of Elevator Music") has died at the age of 86, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The musician had reported during 2014 that he was ill although he never specified the ailment.

    The 2015 Tony Awards have already registered on the Billboard 200 as several of the plays and musicals that won awards have seen a boost in sales thanks to the primetime broadcast last Sunday night. The cast albums for 'Something Rotten,' 'An American in Paris' and 'Fun Home' were among those most affected in the recent sales charts.

  • Dave Grohl Breaks Leg at Concert; Foo Fighters European Tour Cancelled?

    Dave Grohl and the Foo Fighters were in a sticky situation after the frontman fell from the stage during a show in Gothenburg, Sweden, breaking his leg in the process. That said, the guitarist reassured fans that the show must go on, and the band did just that, with drummer Taylor Hawkins taking over at the fore while Grohl was transported to the hospital.
