• Global Dance Music Industry Valued At $6.2 Billion According To New Study

    The dance music industry has seen an unprecedented era of growth over the past few years globally, but more specifically in North America. According to a new study by Danceonomics presented at the recent IMS Conference in Los Angeles, the global market can be valued at $6.2 billion, while the North American market swelled to 30 percent of that at $1.9 billion. The study took into account revenue drawn from music sales and streams, festival and club income and other DJ-centric sources including like Soundcloud and DJ technology.

    Ultra Music Festival 2015 wrapped up Sunday night with a surprise guest-laden performance from American bass don Skrillex that included Diddy, Kiesza, Diplo and Justin Bieber. Arrests were down in 2015, compared to 2014, from 84 to 76 with a sharp decline in felonies down from 31 to 20 according to data from the Miami PD via the Miami New Times.

    Ultra Music Festival 2015 has ditched its own native website for hosting live streams and is going with live streaming giant Twitch to webcast this weekend in a new partnership announced this week. The new deal creates a specific channel for Ultra on Twitch, twitch.tv/ultra, which is normally reserved for gaming. The channel will broadcast the 17th annual UMF this weekend during Miami Music Week March 27 to 29, and the stream will be powered by 7UP, which has invested heavily in EDM festivals and live streams, including last year's Ultra. The schedule has also been announced for this weekend.
