Tragedy has struck the music community again. On Saturday night, June 13, a 19-year-old man was found dead outside of EDM event Spring Awakening Music Festival in Chicago. According to ABC 7 Chicago, police suspect the death to be drug related, but are waiting for the results of a toxicity screen. The three-day festival took place at Soldier Field, which is home to the Chicago Bears. Big-name DJs like Hardwell, Tiësto, Skrillex, Diplo, their duo Jack Ü, Eric Prydz, Zedd and others all performed at Spring Awakening. -
Childish Gambino Premieres New Song at Bonnaroo Ahead of Album
Bonnaroo came and went this past weekend and while many attendees are still making their way home and piecing their lives back together, but the rest of us are ogling over live footage from the various Super Jams, live premieres and impromptu guest appearances that are customary on The Farm. One of the artists that used the massive platform that is Bonnaroo to premiere some music was Childish Gambino. He took the stage on Saturday night and appeared to open his set with a brand new track that would indicate a brand new direction with his music. -
Rich Homie Quan Apologizes For Second Leaked Song About Raping Women
Rich Homie Quan, real name Dequantes Lamar, has had a rough go of things lately and he only has himself to blame. In May a treasure trove of tracks were leaked from the Rich Gang archive, most of then unfinished demos that were never intended for release. As they spread on the Internet, unfortunately for Rich Homie Quan, two of the songs were him discussing raping women. He apologized for the first track, but after the second song, "Day 1," the "Flex" rapper was left without much moral ground to stand on. He has attempted to apologize for the second track in a new interview for Billboard, saying that he was young and had no guidance in his life at the time. -
LCD Soundsystem's James Murphy Got Sponsors, Still No Love for 'Subway Symphony'
Former LCD Soundsystem frontman James Murphy is looking to spice up his hometown New York City and plans on doing so by creating a "subway symphony." The (for now) theoretical project will consist of subway station turnstiles that play notes...to theoretically perform pieces of music just by swiping a metro card and entering. -
