System of a Down US Show: Group Announces First American Gig of 2015
When System of a Down released their Wake Up the Souls Tour schedule this fall, it was monumental given their first-ever Armenian show — on the 100th anniversary of the country's most horrific event, no less. There was one issue with the landmark tour, though: It did not include any U.S. dates. Now, Serj Tankian and Co. are rectifying the omission with a newly scheduled show for April 6 at the Los Angeles Forum that will kick off the stretch of international gigs."We said we should celebrate the fact that we're here on stage, on the radio telling you about [the Armenian genocide]," bassist Shavo Odadjian told KROQ, via radio.com. "We got to that level. Let's not mourn 100 years what has already happened. By educating, you raise awareness. By raising awareness, you grow people's minds." -

Is Amal Clooney Really the Most Fascinating Person of 2014?
Barbara Walters rolled out her list of "Most Fascinating People of 2014" last night, Dec. 14, and as usual there were some names on the list that were predictable. Of course, Taylor Swift made the cut after a bang-up year that saw her popularity rise even without a new guy on her arm. Names like Oprah Winfrey and Chelsea Handler were also fairly expected, but the name at the top of the list may not have been on the tip of many peoples's tongues. Amal Clooney, the woman who managed to change George Clooney's mind on just about every single thing he thought he wanted in his personal life, was named Walters's Most Fascinating Person of 2014.When it came time to introduce Clooney as her top selection, even Walters was not sure what to say. Sure, she is married to a famous man who is powerful in Hollywood, but Amal Clooney is a big deal in her own right. Her work as a human right's attorney has been praised by nearly everyone who has ever had an opportunity to work with Clooney. Declaring her fascinating just because of the man she married would have been almost a slap in the face, so Walters tread carefully. -

The Beatles Christmas Records: Ranking The Yearly Mess from John, Paul, George and Ringo 1963-1969
Pearl Jam wasn't the first band to send out yearly Christmas exclusives to its fan club. The Beatles had jumped on that train nearly 30 years earlier. The difference of course is that Pearl Jam's fans could expect some new musical recordings, covers if nothing else, while the biggest band in history took the yearly task of crafting a Christmas album about as seriously as Stephen Colbert takes investigative reporting. The results tended to be a mess...occasionally a curious mess, but a mess nonetheless. Music Times has waded through the seven Beatles Christmas flexi-discs and made a modest attempt at ranking them. -

"Now, that feeling gives me a sort of confidence. And I'm sure girls are still feeling this. It used to be a sort of exclusion, I guess, but I wanna turn it into a secret club."Tweeddale has been recording with McVicar since late 2011. -
