Taylor Swift absolutely dominated the Billboard 200 this week and she managed to top the Digital Downloads chart as well, although it took far less effort. "Blank Space" became the third track from 1989 to earn the "most downloaded" title (along with "Shake It Off" and "Out Of The Woods"), as the song moved 155,000 downloads, and that's not counting the nearly 1.3 million people who got the track along with the album. -
Dave Grohl Calls Bands Who Perform Old Albums in Full 'Lazy,' Considers Re-Recording Foo Fighters's Debut Album
Dave Grohl has long been a champion for authenticity in music, famously using his 2012 Grammy speech to celebrate "the human element of music," and in a recent "NME" interview, the Foo Fighters frontman was at it again, denouncing the recent trend of bands going on nostalgia tours to perform their old albums in full."F--k, man! I don't like it when a band's tour is just to play one past record," Grohl vented to "NME." "I f--king hate that. I don't like it when bands do that. It's presumptuous. It's lazy."The topic of these nostalgia tours came up when Grohl was discussing the Foo Fighters's plans for their upcoming 20th anniversary, which at one point included a re-recording of the band's self-titled 1995 debut album, which Grohl originally recorded by himself in a matter of days. -

'Run the Jewels 2' Review: Spencer Tweedy Drops Expletive-Laden Praise for Hip-Hop's Hottest Album
Spencer Tweedy — son of Wilco's Jeff — recently participated in a musicians-review-musicians project for The Talkhouse, dropping expletive-laden praise for hip-hop's hottest album. He chose to take a close look at Killer Mike and El-P's modern hip-hop classic "Run the Jewels 2," and if that sounds like an odd selection, the intro is an even bigger curveball."Neil Young is an out-of-touch motherf----r," the review begins. After some lengthy Young-centric misdirection, Tweedy arrives at his point: Run the Jewels is the antithesis to Young. They are actually edgy. -

Virgin Galactic Pilot Peter Siebold Defied the Odds by Surviving a Disintegrating Rocket at 50,000 Feet
When Virgin Galactic's SpaceShipTwo broke apart shortly after breaking the sound barrier last week, it was unimaginable that either pilot would somehow escape the wreckage. Peter Siebold and Michael Alsbury were both still strapped into their seats as the rocket disintegrated around them. Siebold somehow managed to eject from the ship and basically had to run on instincts to get himself back on solid ground. The "Los Angeles Times" breaks down exactly what Siebold was up against and how amazing it is that he survived rather than die, as Alsbury did. First we need to understand that these men could have been as high as an estimated 50,000 feet above Earth when things turned bad. That means that when Siebold began his fall his body was tumbling through temperatures of around 70 degrees below zero and the air is so thin he likely was unable to either inhale or exhale. Siebold also was not wearing a space suit to protect him from the lethal conditions. -
