  • Prince schedules three special shows on the east coast at Mohegan Sun

    Prince always comes up with a new way to surprise fans with live performances, either by giving a certain city multiple shows in a row, or even announcing a performance the day of. This time, Prince has scheduled a trio of shows at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut, according to Rolling Stone.

    Slow and surely wins the race. This isn't a mantra that Robert Sillerman and SFX Entertainment abide by. As Music Times has reported during previous weeks, the electronic music promoter has been making frequent purchases and adding to its budding empire, including Made Event (the organizer of New York's Electric Zoo Festival) and Germany's i-Motion last week. The biggest announcement came over the weekend when the company announced that it had purchased a 50 percent ownership stake in Rock in Rio, one of the world's largest music festivals.

    This year's Nobel Peace Prize concert lineup has been announced which includes a variety of artists across genres including Jake Bugg, Mary J. Blige, Syrian musician Omar Souleyman, James Blunt, Swedish singer Zara Larsson, hip-hop duo Envy and Swedish rapper Timbuktu. Morrissey will headline the concert, and according to his Facebook page, he plans to perform three songs.

  • Artists & fans crowdfund shows with RABBL social network

    If you haven't heard of RABBL so far, you will soon. It's a new social networking service where artists can crowdfund shows. Music fans are constantly coming at musicians asking when they are going to play their hometown next. The demand for an artist to play a certain venue may be there, but it's typically not much in the artist's control where they end up touring. RABBL puts things into both the musician's and the fans' hands. The artist first creates a potential show at a venue (a "rabbl). Then fans "reserve" tickets. If there is enough demand from the fans for the artist to play that venue, it's booked and the show goes on! We spoke to Wade Lagrone, CEO and co-founder to get the details.
