    Beck's new album "Morning Phase" is just a little over a month away, with a newly set release date o Feb. 25. As promised (and teased) last week, the prolific alt-rock singer was due to drop a new single "Blue Moon" today at 10 a.m. EST, and of course, he delivered. The folksy, acoustic-driven track debuted this morning (Jan. 20) on radio and arrived on streaming services such as Spotify soon after.

  • Spotify features new merchandise service through Topspin

    Streaming seems to be the future for listening to music, which raises concerns for some musicians such as Thom Yorke, who allege that services such as Spotify make it difficult for new musicians to break into the business. There's also the ongoing concern that a "stream" doesn't earn the performer responsible for thus music very much in kickbacks. Spotify is testing a new method to help performers raise funds through the service however.
  • Hundreds gathered for Phil Everly's memorial in Kentucky on Saturday

    A memorial service was held on Saturday for Phil Everly in Powderly, Ky. Two hundred people gathered, including fans, other musicians and friends of the Everly Brothers. Country musician Marty Brown performed songs by the duo.

    Damon Albarn has officially announced his first proper solo album will be titled Everyday Robots and is due out April 28. The album was briefly listed on the web store for Warner Music, allowing pre-orders of the 12-track effort. Bloggers at Damon Albarn Unofficial were able to jot down the details of the album and the cover art before label executives took the posting down.
