Weezer's new album, Everything Will Be Alright In The End, is due out Oct. 17, and members Rivers Cuomo and Scott Shriner took some time to talk about the record recently with Billboard, among other topics.

Behind the scenes in Las Vegas at the iHeart Radio Music Festival this weekend, Cuomo said the new album is "complex and heavy, but not too metal." "It still sounds like Weezer," he continued. "Super-melodic, guitar solos, interesting lyrics." Shriner chimed in to say that the record also contained elements of prog-rock. "We wanted to make a very deep album, an album that would be a classic, and that all our fans and us could grow old with. And we knew it would take some time, so we just said we're gonna spend these few years and do what it takes to achieve our goal," Cuomo added.

It's been four years since Weezer released Hurley, and the bandmates spoke about what their "break" was like. "All through that time we were still playing shows," the frontman said. "We did a couple Weezer Cruises. We stayed out of the spotlight and didn't do interviews, but we were still in close contact with our audience."

"We're never really off," Shriner added. "We're all working in music and working together and in contact and it's very much alive all the time."

Cuomo said that the band really enjoyed the five-day cruise where the band performed and hung out with hundreds of die-hard fans. "They're not always criticizing us, they actually love us and want what's best for us," he said.

Just for fun, the last question for the guys was "Who would play you in your biopic?" Shriner picked Jimmy Fallon while Cuomo opted for Jason Schwartzman or Michael Cera.
