Katy Perry and Pitbull are two of the biggest names in popular music, so doesn't it seem inevitable that the two would eventually collaborate? Well, it's finally happened. Today (Jan. 27), a new remix of Perry's quickly rising single "Dark Horse" has hit the web, featuring none other than Mr. Worldwide himself.
From the beginning of the "Dark Mix," it's clear something is different, as Pitbull chimes in with "Katy Perry, Mr. Worldwide / Let's ride!"
From there, it's the trappy-infused goodness of "Dark Horse" for quite some time. As the surprise third single of Prism, there's little that can be said about this track that has yet to be written, but Perry nails the saucy, sexy single in a way little heard from her on her third studio effort.
Then, after the second chorus, Pitbull comes in like the rabid party animal he is, with a howl that leads into a speedy rap verse (replacing original "Dark Horse" featured artist Juicy J). "You know I'm an outcast / I got that sucker for your Cadillac music," Pitbull raps. Scraping away Juicy J's Perry boasting, serial killer infused rhymes for his familiar tropes of sex and self-empowerment.
Is the remix as good as the original? Nah. But, it's a fun spin on a soon-to-be classic pop song.
