Kim Kardashian and Kanye West welcomed their third child - a girl - on Monday, Jan. 15. The Keeping Up With the Kardashians star made the announcement a day later.

Kim Kardashian West Announces Her Baby's Arrival

On her website, Kim shared that her baby is healthy and doing well. She also took the time to thank her surrogate for taking care of the infant for the past 9 months. Kim is also grateful to all the doctors and nurses who helped take care of her surrogate and deliver her baby earlier this week.

Kardashian-Jenner Family Members' Reactions

The arrival of Kim's third child was highly anticipated especially among the members of her family. After she made the official announcement, her younger sister, Khloe, reposted her confirmation via her Twitter account. The Revenge Body star included 12 heart emojis to express her love for her niece.

Kris Jenner was also extremely excited over the arrival of the newest addition to their family. The "momager" gave Kim a beautiful pink cake that the 37-year-old shared on her Instagram Stories.

Fertility Problems

Prior to the baby's arrival, Kim revealed that she wants to have more kids, but may no longer be able to get pregnant. The reality TV star's doctors told her that she could be at risk if she gets pregnant again. Last year, Kim also underwent surgery on her uterus, and this made it even more impossible for her to get pregnant.

In the days following her surgery, Kim's doctor told her as a final reminder that she could not get pregnant again. In an episode of KUWTK, the mom of three admitted that she is devastated by what the doctors said.

"Not only has this been really painful, but now hearing that I can't carry any more kids, it couldn't get any worse. I mean, [expletive], like I really tried everything and I really want this and it's just not going to happen for me," said Kim.

Surrogacy

Months later, Kim went in search of a surrogate that could carry her baby, but this did not happen until after she consulted with a fertility specialist. Dr. Wong told Kim that finding a surrogate is not an unreasonable option especially if she wants a huge family.

Initially, Kim was unsure of whether she would seek the help of a surrogate because no one from her family has tried it. In June 2017, it was reported that Kim and West already hired a surrogate. Three months later, it was announced that they were expecting a baby girl.
