A woman is suing R&B singer-songwriter R. Kelly for knowingly infecting her with a sexually transmitted disease after a consensual sexual encounter.

A lawyer representing the alleged victim, Faith Rodgers, filed the lawsuit on Monday, May 21, in New York Supreme Court. The plaintiff also claims that the 51-year-old "mentally, physically, and verbally" abused her.

More Complaints Against R. Kelly

In an interview with CBS, Rodgers recounted her relationship with Kelly, whose real name is Robert Sylvester Kelly, which lasted for nearly a year. During that time, the accuser said that his goal was to teach her how to make love like a "mature woman," but also made her call him "daddy." Rodgers was 19 at the time.

The accuser also told news correspondent Jericka Duncan that she met five other women who, Kelly said, he was "raising."

To recall, last year, Buzzfeed uncovered the Grammy Award winner's history of sexual misconduct. The article alleged that Kelly targets young women and lures them into his circle, keeps them inside his home, controls their lives, and forbids them from making contact with the outside world.

R. Kelly's camp has repeatedly denied the allegations, but the Time's Up initiative of Hollywood has condemned the alleged abuser. Spotify has also removed his music from the site-curated playlists.

Rodgers continued and detailed an encounter with the "I Believe I Can Fly" singer where he visited her hotel room and initiated intercourse. Kelly brought the young woman into New York City to attend one of his shows.

The accuser told him that she was not ready to have sex, but Kelly disregarded her words. She recalled that she froze up and "submitted" to having sex with him because she was intimidated at the time. She also said that that was not the first nor last time that she found herself coerced by the singer-songwriter into having sex.

"Defendant, R. Kelly, locked Plaintiff in secluded areas including rooms, studios and motor vehicles, for extended periods of time in order to punish Plaintiff for failing to please Defendant sexually and/or for perceived offenses and violations of his prescribed code of conduct," the suit alleged.

Rodgers only discovered that the world-renowned performer had herpes after she was infected.
