Shawn Mendes makes the Los Angeles traffic a lot less boring in the most recent episode of James Corden's "Carpool Karaoke."
On Monday, June 4, the young singer-songwriter appeared on the popular series where he sang his most recent hits including "There's Nothing Holdin' Me Back," "In My Blood," "Mercy," and more.
Shawn Mendes Loves Harry Potter
The 19-year-old also talked about his love of Harry Potter. Corden asked him a few questions about his obsession with the franchise, such as whether he has read the books written by J.K. Rowling and if he met the cast.
Mendes said that on a scale of 1-10, his love of the popular young adult franchise would be at 9.5, characterizing himself as a super fan. He also revealed in the conversation that he has a book full of spells at home that is based on the wizarding world.
Every time the camera pans back to him, Mendes adds cosplay details on himself, including a familiar scar on his forehead, round black-rim glasses, and a Gryffindor robe. What makes the scene funnier is the young singer's deadpan delivery as if nothing out of the ordinary has happened.
He also said that he has met Emma Watson who played Hermione Granger in the movies and managed not to embarrass himself in front of her.
This is not the first time that the former Vine star has spoken about his obsession with the franchise. In 2016, Mendes sat down with Tyler Oakley and revealed which Hogwarts House he would be sorted into.
In 2015, he also got to visit The Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Orlando.
Shawn Mendes Would Buy Justin Bieber's Underwear
During his conversation with Corden, Mendes also spoke about living alone and, oddly, Justin Bieber's underwear. The television host asked him if he would buy a pair of the popstar's underpants and how much he would be willing to pay for them.
The singer joked that he would cap it off at $500 but he has to also know where and when Bieber used it. Then, Corden asked how much his guest would pay for underpants worn by the Peter Rabbit star.
"I wouldn't," Mendes responded. "I'd pay not to have a pair of your underpants. I would pay for them to be as far away from me as possible. Over $500."
During the segment, Mendes and Corden also heckled some passing cars and being Canadian. By the end of the episode, the two got down from the car, entered the skating rink, and played hockey.

Meanwhile, Mendes is celebrating a new milestone this month. His eponymous third album, Shawn Mendes, landed on the top of the Billboard 200 with 182,000 equivalent units moved, 142,000 of which were from traditional sales.
This is also the third time that he dominated the albums chart.
