Shots were fired on Twitter as City Girls one-half JT and Cardi B engaged in a fiery back and forth on the timeline while everyone screamed on the sidelines hyping up the fight!

Ironically, the catfight stemmed from a comment from Cardi B, accusing JT of being a "lapdog," to which the other side retorted with a "Weiner dog!" snipe. (via Sportskeeda)

After a few moments, Cardi tweeted, "Go fetch," alluding to her previous "lapdog" tweet. Shortly after, JT quote tweeted it, sparking the explosive exchange on Twitter.

Cardi fought back, revealing to everyone that they had initially talked via DMs before the very public fight.

JT then clarified that the tweets were made before Cardi responded, messing up the timings of the DM replies and the tweets. In another follow-up tweet, the City Girl pointed out that Cardi wanted the City Girls for their hooks, alleging that Cardi does not have one.

In a subtweet, Cardi clap backed, explaining her reasons for taking the conversation into the open, hinting that the search for "doggy treats" is becoming real. Responding to JT's accusation that she got them for the hook, the "Hot Shit" rapper had something to say about that too.

For context, the "P" that Cardi B is referring to is Pardison Fontaine; an American rapper songwriter largely credited on Cardi's most notable hits like "Bodak Yellow," "WAP," and "Up." Because of this, she received a more scathing comment from Cardi.

JT admitted that maybe both of their timings are off on responses, but she asked Cardi how her lapdog comment justified her being dubbed as an opportunist.

But after JT's last tweet, Cardi gave up on the word war and dropped her final words about the nail-biting Twitter show.

On the other hand, JT emphasized in a tweet that chart standings do not matter to her that much as she is more focused on writing music and expressing herself.

What caused JT and Cardi B's Beef?

Backtracking the tweets, the conversation happened moments before a netizen slammed JT and other female rappers who collaborated with Nicki Minaj's "Super Freaky Girl" (Queen Mix).

She, however, stayed above the bashing and proceeded to congratulate Glorilla and asked her followers to stream the track and also her Queen Mix "SFG" remix.

While all the drama unfolds, Nicki Minaj shadingly changed her Twitter profile photo from a pen, alluding to her iconic songwriting prowess to JT's portrait shortly after.

Although it is not confirmed, Minaj is perceived to have been siding with JT, but in a separate tweet, the City Girls rapper confirmed that Nicki had nothing to do with the beef - crushing what Cardi thought to be the reason for the "lapdog" comment.

JT and Nicki recently mended their friendship as the former acknowledge their previous beef – supporting Nicki from their comeback.

However, the issues on Cardi's songwriting is rooted back on the previous allegations that the "Invasion of Privacy" hitmaker is hiring songwriters like Pardison to write in behalf of her but takes the sole credit of penning her own flows.

Similarly, Cardi B changed her Twitter photo to Remy Ma, possibly siding over the latter on her beef with Nicki Minaj in the past.
