Doja Cat has been taking over the music industry over the past couple of years and many people believe that she's following in the footsteps of the likes of Lady Gaga and Madonna as all of them almost had the same career trajectory.

In a profile by Variety, the "Kiss Me More" hitmaker noted that she likes showing her "feathers" whenever she walks on the red carpet. It's apparent for the rapper as she always turns heads and grabs the public's attention whenever she attends fashion events, like her recent appearance at the Schiaparelli fashion show.

Elsewhere in the interview, the musician's manager, Gordon Dillard, explained that whatever the pop star is doing is considered a "performance" even if she's just reading a book or attending a party.

He further explained that he thinks Doja is today's generation's Madonna or Lady Gaga because of her unique personality.

Baz Luhrmann, the man behind the hit biopic "Elvis" which used the rapper's song "Vegas" as the official soundtrack, doubled down Dillard's statement and made similar comparisons, saying when Madonna rehearses for something, it's hard to stop her from keeping perfecting what she wanted to do.

"When I went to see Doja rehearse for Coachella, I thought of that same work ethic. And then in terms of her look and her self-projection, if you think of Madonna in the early days," he further explained.

It appears that there are some fans who agree that Doja Cat is heading in the same direction as Lady Gaga when it comes to fashion as one user pointed out, "Doja Cat's commitment to serving is MAJOR. She's been sporting Lady Gaga levels of enigmatic looks for fashion shows over the past year and I'm desperate to see what she does next."

Doja Cat's Upcoming Album Exploring a Different Genre?

Aside from her over-the-top fashion, Doja Cat is also popularly known for her talent in music. Her past albums "Hot Pink" and "Planet Her" mainly revolved around femininity, but it appears that the musician is switching things up in her upcoming album.

In the same interview, the 27-year-old rapper, whose real name is Amala Ratna Zandile Dlamini, teased fans about the sound of her next project, saying listeners should expect her to take "a more masculine direction" contrary to her usual "pink and soft" sound and aesthetic.

She added that there have been many musicians who explored the pop-punk genre in the present and she wanted to see more artists do the same thing, but she shouldn't be the one doing it. Instead, Doja said she would explore "raw, unfiltered, hardcore punk sort of thing."

As of this writing, the singer has yet to reveal more information about the official tracklist and collaborators of her next album.
