Charli XCX's debut album "True Romance" is celebrating its 10th anniversary today! The pop star recently penned an emotional statement regarding the big milestone of her first LP; let's take a look back at the singer's earliest music before slowly amassing massive fame through the years.

Taking to her social media accounts, the singer shared a photo of herself from 2013 along with a written text, starting with, "Wow. 10 years of true romance. This album was the beginning of everything for me. The beginning of discovering myself as a person."

Looking back at her humble start, the musician recalled being a Myspace kid inspired by party photos, teen movies, and what felt like an untouchable club scene.

At the time, she wanted to escape and meet other people who understood the things she did. At a young age, Charli came to Los Angeles and met the people who wrote some of her earlier songs which she was proud of.

"Happy True Romance Day, thank you to everyone who's been here from the beginning and I hope you enjoy the original angel reissue of the vinyl," she concluded.

Charli XCX 'True Romance': A Look Back

Released on April 12, 2013, the album was delayed for a full year and has been in progress since 2010. Speaking about the story behind its title, Charli said it's "Every corner" of her own romantic history and despite her being a newcomer, she was not afraid to let listeners discover her raw and honest side.

Most songs from the record came from her EP "You're the One" as well as mixtapes such as "Super Ultra" and "Hearbreaks and Earthquakes."

Some of her singles from the album include "Stay Away," "Nuclear Seasons," "You're the One," "You (Ha Ha Ha)," and "What I Like."

Charli XCX 'True Romance' Received Positive Reviews

Even though she was fairly new within the pop music industry at the time, Charli XCX's first album was a success as it received mostly positive comments from critics.

Marc Hogan of Pitchfork wrote that the record revolved around songs that were distinctive and memorable, and her debut album only proves that the public will follow Charli XCX's success for a while.

To promote her record, the singer went on a three-date promotional tour around the United Kingdom.

Today, Charli XCX has an established music career in pop. Her most recent album titled "Crash" was released in March 2022.
