• Joan Baez Celebrating 75th Birthday with Jackson Browne, Emmylou Harris, Indigo Girls and More

    Legendary folk singer-songwriter and social activist Joan Baez is about to turn 75. To celebrate her over 55 year-long career as a musician, she's throwing a star-studded birthday concert at the historic Beacon Theatre on January 27th. Special guests joining Baez on stage include Jackson Browne, Emmylou Harris, the Indigo Girls, Damien Rice, David Bromberg, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Judy Collins and Nano Stern; more performers are to be announced as the date nears.
  • Lil Wayne is Recovering From Elbow Surgery in Miami Hospital

    Lil Wayne has had a tough year. The New Orleans born rapper has been named in a number of lawsuits over failure to pay bills for pyrotechnics, private jets and more. Further, he is embroiled in a deeply personal lawsuit with his former mentor and label head Birdman. The rapper is seeking $51 million in damages and withheld compensation. The lawsuit has created tensions between Cash Money artists like Young Thug and artists on Lil Wayne's Young Money imprint like Drake and Tyga, and has delayed the release of Lil Wayne's upcoming album 'Tha Carter V'. It appears, only adding to his troubles, Lil Wayne had to have surgery on his elbow. However, he is successfully recovering from the surgery now, and seems to be in good spirits. After waking up from anesthesia, Wayne tweeted, "Much luv [to] Dr. Kaplan [and] his team at Univ. of Miami hospital for a successful (elbow) surgery. [And] dey had me on the tunes during surgery... dope!"

On Friday night (Nov. 20), A&E will air the concert special Shining A Light: A Concert for Progress on Race in America, in hopes to bring this country's racial relations to the forefront. And, in a teaser for the program, the "Anaconda" rapper recites the classic Maya Angelou poem "Still I Rise," and does so with a sense of dignity and power.

    Robert Sillerman has withdrawn his offer to take the beleaguered dance music conglomerate SFX Entertainment private. Citing market conditions and the company's tanked stock price, Sillerman is deciding to try and stay the course and turn things around as a public company.
