• Stream J Dilla 'Dillatronic:' 41 Unreleased Instrumentals Out This Week

    The world is about to be blessed with a massive load of new J Dilla instrumentals. The beatsmith behind seminal hip-hop group A Tribe Called Quest and one of the greatest samplers of all time, J Dilla died too soon in 2006, but left behind a treasure trove of unreleased beats he never got to pair up with a rapper or formally release to the public. Now 41 more electronic leaning productions are being shared in a special Dillatronic package this week and all of them are available to stream before the project drops on Friday, Oct. 30.
  • Deadmau5 Sues Former Label Play Records Over Remixes, Mashups

    Deadmau5, real name Joel Zimmerman, is making use of his legal team and once again it is over a dispute with a former label. The "Strobe" producer is suing his former label Play Records, which is run by ex-collaborator Meleny "Melleefresh" Brown over alleged remixes and mashups that he did not authorize as per terms of their agreement.

    After a decade of ruling the Australian airwaves (and beyond) as host of several Triple J Radio shows, electronic DJ, producer and tastemaker Nina Agzarian, aka Nina Las Vegas, has left the station. For her final Mix Up Exclusives show this weekend, she solicited 30 minute mixes from Diplo, Anna Lunoe, Flight Facilities, Flume, Cashmere Cat, RL Grime, Swick and Levins. The result is a 4-hour long celebration of NLV's lasting influence full of new music (as well as some throwbacks) from each of the guests. Listen to the mix here:
  • Grimes Unveils 'Art Angels' Tracklist: "Flesh Without Blood/Life In The Vivid Dream" Video

    Grimes, born Claire Boucher, has unveiled the tracklist and release date for her new album Art Angels. The album comes in at 14 tracks total and will be released next week on Nov. 6. To go along with the announcement, the Visions singer has unveiled a wonky joint music video for two songs from the album "Flesh without Blood" and "Life in the Vivid Dream."

    Slipknot's frontman Corey Taylor has never been one to hold back his anger, but it came to a head when he sucker-punched WWE wrestler Baron Corbin this past Friday (October 23). The two came to blows at the Aftershock Festival in Sacramento, California. Taylor is also reportedly a huge wrestling fan and had been engaging in nasty exchanges with the wrestler for some time.

    Eric Prydz has already been causing quite a stir just two episodes in with newly launched Beats 1 radio show. In his first episode, the "Liberate" producer unveiled 9 brand new unreleased tracks over the course of his 2-hour mix and over the weekend, he was back for a brand new mix jam-packed with new exclusives. To kick off the show he opened with a bit of a "curveball." That curveball being a brand new collaboration with one half of Knife Party and former Pendulum member, Rob Swire, titled "Breathe."

    Charli XCX made a much-publicized appearance at the MTV EMAs in Milan as a presenter, where she handed Justin Bieber one of his numerous awards yesterday (October 25). In an interview with acclaimed publication 'Billboard,' she talked Adele and the hot topic of women in the music industry. Adele's upcoming album 25, her first in 3 years, is slated for release late next month (November 20).
  • Russell Simmons Faces Class Action Lawsuit Following RushCard Failure

    Russell Simmons has, undoubtedly, had an illustrious career as a businesman. However, his RushCard venture--which bills itself as a prepaid Visa card that lets you shop, get cash at ATMs, pay bills, buy online and get Direct Deposit without credit checks or overdraft fees--has become a massive failure, with users unable to access their funds. Now, according to the DailyMail, five RushCard users are issuing a class action lawsuit against the Hip-Hop mogul for failure to receive their funds.
