Things are not well in the New York hip-hop family. Two of the biggest players in the community, Jay-Z and Funkmaster Flex, are at odds over actions reportedly taken by people at Jay-Z's site "Life + Times." There appears to be more at stake here, though. According to a report on "mediatakeout.com," citing a "rock-solid source," Jay-Z is a part of a group of investors that includes New York Knicks basketball star Carmelo Anthony who are currently in negotiations to buy Hot 97. According to the site, both sides are serious about getting the deal done. Hot 97 is the radio station where Funkmaster Flex has his own radio show. -
Moog to Restart Manufacturing Large Format Modular Synthesizers: The System 55, System 35 and Model 15 Back in Production
Legendary synthesizer company Moog announced at the National Association of Music Merchants through a press release that the historic company will be reproducing some of its original and most sought-after, large-scale modular synth units. Specifically, the Ashveville, North Carolina-based company has decided to restart production on three of the most sought-after modular synthesizers: the System 55, the System 35 and the Model 15. They were some of the most innovative models that were built in the 1970s. -

Eminem Refutes Report of New Album 'Roots' Releasing in 2015
Eminem has had a monster past two years, releasing a record setting studio album and growing his label Shadyville Records into one of the most well respected imprints in hip-hop. It appears that Marshall Mathers is potentially going to keep the momentum up and release another album in 2015. It would reportedly be titled Roots and is expected to feature the likes of Dr. Dre and Xzibit. -

Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young Drummer Dallas Taylor Dead at 66, Percussionist Played at Woodstock with Supergroup
The rock world has lost another great musician: Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young drummer Dallas Taylor died earlier today (Jan. 19). According to The Los Angeles Times, Taylor performed at Woodstock with the supergroup, in addition to keeping the beat steady on seven of the group's hit records. He was 66. -
Mavis Staples to Play Glastonbury Festival: Foo Fighters, Fleetwood Mac and AC/DC Still Possible Headliners
According to various reports, Mavis Staples will be playing the Glastonbury Festival in June. Mick Jagger is doing his best to ensure late girlfriend L'Wren Scott's memory will not be forgotten. The Rolling Stones frontman recently dedicated a fashion scholarship in Scott's name to Central Saint Martins Design College in London.According to "Billboard," the scholarship will be given to one masters student annually, through the 2017 school term, and will cover that pupil's entire tuition plus some living expenses. -
Nearly 5 Million People Watched Lifetime 'Whitney' Houston Biopic
There was plenty of backlash directed at Lifetime before it debuted its Whitney Houston biopic "Whitney," but the channel managed to score great audience numbers during its Sunday night, Jan. 18, programming block.The film itself averaged 4.5 million viewers between 8 p.m. and 10 p.m. ET, according to "The Hollywood Reporter." In addition to that, the interview special "Bobby Brown: Remembering Whitney" managed to hold on to 4.1 million of those initial viewers between 10 p.m and 11 p.m. Finally, the program "Whitney Houston Live: Her Greatest Performances" drew 3.2 million viewers during the 11 p.m. to midnight hour.
